Like his contemporary, Oliver Nelson, Pearson was a master of dynamic arrangements. Blessed with a crew of gifted soloists like trumpeters Randy Brecker, Burt Collins,, Marvin Stamm, drummer Mickey Roker, saxophonists Frank Foster, Lew Tabackin, Pepper Adams, trombonists Garnet Brown and Julian Priester, this band swings as if its been playing together for years. The dates included in this collection never waiver in there commitment to excellence.By the way, if you don't own the "Live" Baltimore 1969 date by this same group (also available through Amazon) you're really missing something special.
